Professor Emeritus Arunava Gupta Named to 2026 IEEE Fellows Class

Dr. Arunava Gupta

Dr. Arunava Gupta, professor emeritus and Distinguished University Research Professor, was recently named an Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Fellow.

Fellow is the highest grade of IEEE membership and is conferred upon IEEE senior members with outstanding records of accomplishments in the IEEE fields of interest. This honor is limited to no more than 0.1% of the total IEEE voting membership each year.

Gupta was recognized by IEEE for contributions to magnetic and superconducting complex oxide films for electronic device applications.

IEEE is the world’s largest technical professional organization and is dedicated to advancing technology for the benefit of humanity. IEEE has more than 500,000 members and publishes approximately a third of the world’s technical literature in electrical engineering, computing and electronics.

Gupta had a joint appointment with UA’s Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering and Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry and was previously the associate director of the Materials for Information Technology Center. He was also a recipient of the Burnham Distinguished Faculty Award, one of the University’s highest faculty honors.
